A Message From Principal Carrie Abrams

Dear Popham Families,

My name is Carrie Abrams and I am so excited to introduce myself as the new principal at Popham Elementary for the 2018-2019 school year. I am honored to have been selected by the Del Valle school district after being an assistant principal here for 11 years. Over the past 16 years in Del Valle, I have worked as a teacher and as an administrator but I feel that my most important role is being an advocate for our students. I will spend a lot of time with your children and their teachers throughout the year and will be consistently encouraging them to do their best so that they can reach their highest potential. My hope is that they feel valued and know that they have a special place in our community.

One large goal that I will work tirelessly towards is increasing the number of students we have who are reading, writing, and working on math problems that are on grade level. I understand the importance of these skills and how vital they are to making sure that our students can be successful in whatever path in life they choose.

Not only am I excited to continue working with your students, but I also look forward to working with parents and guardians. I want to celebrate your children’s’ progress and share in any challenges that we may face. I know that it “takes a village” to ensure that our students are successful and I believe that communicating their successes with you is only the beginning.  I cannot wait to hear stories about the students through your eyes and work towards all students feeling safe and happy at Popham so that they have the space to learn and grow every day.

Once again, I am so thankful to have the opportunity to bring all of my experiences that I have learned after being in Del Valle for over a decade.

Mrs. Carrie Abrams
